Start with the written reason. A claim may involve a disputed disclosure, a policy exclusion, an event outside the period of cover or a requirement for further evidence. A pending document query is not necessarily a final rejection.
- Disclosure questions: compare the proposal answers and relevant records; do not alter historical documents.
- Coverage disputes: identify the precise clause cited and how the insurer says it applies.
- Missing information: request a clear written list, provide relevant records and retain acknowledgements.
- Amount disputes: ask for the assessment and deductions to be explained.
Keep a dated timeline. Seek a written review through the insurer’s grievance process if you disagree. Ombudsman eligibility and procedure depend on the case; ask before assuming it is the next route.
